Daily Log: Monday 3 Dec. 07

I forgot how hard the holidays can be when you're doing WW. I had a couple of events this weekend and I dove right in with full force. I'm thinking that I'll start counting on the weekends again just to keep me a little more honest. Something about posting what I eat to this blog really does keep me from overindulging, and I might need to rely on that in the coming weeks until we're through the holidays.

Do any of you fellow WW-ers have ideas for filling breakfasts that aren't more than 3-4 points? Cold cereal does not do it for me. Oatmeal is good, but I'm getting rather bored with it.

But anyway, for today:

Breakfast
the same old oatmeal: 3
black coffee: 0 (3)

Lunch
spinach, feta, and Eggbeater breakfast burrito in whole-wheat wrap (I ate very little of the wrap part, but most of the filling): 4 (7)
small serving home fries: 4 (11)
decaf tea: 0 (11)

Dinner
roasted veggies (cauliflower, mushrooms, squash, bok choy): 2 (13)
polenta with cheese: 4 (17)
Trader Joe's ginger Cats' Cookies: 2 (19)

Check out the website at www.hungry-girl.com. She has lots and lots of WW ideas. I know that she was raving about a breakfast wrap at Starbucks recently, and I think that she gave the reduced-fat Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches a good rating. (They tasted yummy to me, but they were soggy. My microwave acts strangely, though, so they're probably not soggy for other people.)

I love Weight Watchers double chocolate muffins (3 points) and a small banana for breakfast. Not warm, but come on... chocolate for breakfast? :)

Thanks for the ideas. I happen to go right past a Starbucks on my way to work, as luck would have it. And a double-chocolate muffin sounds like a fantastic way to start a day.

I make an awesome ww egg mcmuffin.

I take some egg beaters (or egg whites) and microwave them in a ramekin, so that they get cooked and puffy and are english-muffin-shaped.

then nuke a slice of turkey bacon.

ww english muffin.

That's one point for the english muffin, one point for the egg, and one point for the bacon. I don't need cheese but you could do one slice for one point.

That's a 3 or 4 point breakfast that'll stick with you.

I have a Morning Glory muffin almost every morning with a piece of fruit. The muffins are 4 points and the fruit is usually 1, so that's a 5 point breakfast, but it keeps me going through the day. I have the recipe on my blog, if you're interested. The muffins are full of carrots and apples and raisins, so they give you that zing you in the morning.

Thank you for the great tips! It's funny how you just forget about things. I used to make McMuffins all the time, but got out of the habit and totally forgot that they were an option.

Loser Girl, I'm going to go find your muffin recipe now. Thanks in advance.

I don't do weight watchers so I don't know points (I do body for life, which requires watching carbs & protein), but I make scrambled eggs that are awesome. I don't measure amounts well, so the measurements below are just guesses... adjust to your tastes.

Scramble: 1 full egg + whites from 2 eggs (or about 1/3 C egg beaters)
add in and cook until warm: about 1/4 cup drained & rinsed canned black beans
When hot, add about 1/2 C sliced fresh spinach leaves and about 1/4 C fresh pico de gallo and stir briefly until spinach wilts.
Sprinkle with a bit of lowfat grated cheese if desired.

I sometimes eat this with one slice of toasted whole-grain bread, but it is actually very filling on its own.

It's all about Trader Joe's:

Veggie Sausage Patties-Either the Trader Joes Brand(less points) or the Veggie Burger kind

Crumpets-surprisingly low on points. Makes a good breakfast sandwhich with a sausage patty in the middle.

Trader Joe's Gluten Free Waffles.

These are awesome tips! I will tell you what is helpful if you are in a hurry - Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bars. They are SO filling, and are incredibly good. Those stick with me straight up to lunch.
